Weight of Trees

A series of upward-looking woodland photographs in which trunks, branches and canopies are rendered as dense, weight-bearing forms against fields of blown light and grain. The repeated low viewpoint exaggerates their vertical scale, while high-contrast monochrome, softened detail and a weathered print character make parts of the forest appear to dissolve into the photographic surface. Weight of Trees explores the tension between mass and disappearance—the physical presence of old trunks set against foliage and light that seem almost immaterial.
