Flowers in Tin Pot

Flowers in Tin Pot

Created at Visie Groep, this is my first artwork made using flash lighting. A small arrangement of flowers and foliage emerges from near-blackness, with the light catching the metal pot, selected leaves and pale blossoms while much of the composition remains deliberately unresolved in shadow. The controlled illumination introduces a strong chiaroscuro effect, drawing on the visual language of classical still life while retaining the grain, softness and tonal imperfection of a photographic image. The work marks a first exploration of artificial light as a deliberate part of the image-making process, using flash not to flatten the subject, but to shape depth, texture and atmosphere.
